Removal of the motor cartridge allows for easy cleaning of the strainer and impeller if clogged with debris. Rule Bilge Pumps 12 volt DC turn on every few minutes to check for water and therefore do not require float switches. If water is present, the rule bilge pump will continue to run until all the water is removed. Power use in the checking mode is minimal.
