I have a '75 Glastron Carlson CV21 with a 650HP Olds 468. I am in the process of replacing the stringers and repairing what the previous moronic, incompetent owner attempted to repair. I was recomended by a friend and have seen on other forums, to use West system epoxy to bond in and then cover the new stringer.

Any recomendations, advice, or warnings on this topic?

Hello,
I paint wall murals for a living and someone asked me to paint The Dark Side of The Moon prism theme onto his fiberglass canoe. I have just started doing research on how to go about doing this.

So far from what I have gathered, I am thinking the best route to take will be to buy 1 Gal of Yacht Primer, and 1 Gal of Black marine paint.

Then I am not sure what paint to use next: I need 7 additional colors, 6 for the rainbow plus white. I cannot buy a quart of each color, that would be getting WAY too expensive, plus way too much paint for what I need. A pint would probably be the size I need, but I don't think I can buy that small. Would using Rustoleum or some other kind of enamel paint work on top of marine paint?

Then to seal it, I was thinking I could apply a Clear Topcoat over the entire canoe to seal it all together? Or should I carefully apply it over ONLY the Rustoleum paints? I had read something about how you cannot apply Gel coat over anything other than fiberglass, otherwise it will crack or something? Or is that different from Clear Topcoat?

I know it is ultimately our fault for not mixing enough hardener, but please consider revising this statement in the instructions. It is easy to read this as 12-15 drops being an ounce. ie 3-4 drops for a 1/4 oz. needed to mix up a pint.

Anyways, that is how we read it - and ended up painting a quart with the wrong mix - obviously, it didn't cure and I had to buy more. $50 and 2 hours labor mistake.

I'd like to get your paint recommendation for repainting the bottom of a 1995 Kawasaki jetski. So far as I know, the paint is original and is in reasonably good shape. There are a few chips in the outer paint layer, but nothing through to bare fiberglass. The boat is trailered for storage much of the year, but spends several months each summer anchored in fresh water. I don't need anti-fouling paint per se but some anti-slime characteristics would be nice. I want to stay with the original white color.
Thanks for your help.

When we rinsed the soda off the boat, the gelcoat was stained blue, green and yellow. (Basically, it looks like 1980's cultured marble). While we are on the hard, we have tried many marine cleaners RV cleaners, and vinegar. Nothing seems to help. The side of the boat with the most sun exposure is fading, but the other side is still very dark, and we will be on the hard for a good while longer. Are there any chemists out there with the knowledge of how to remove these colors from gelcoat?

I am restoring a 1976 San Juan 21 sailboat equipped with a swing keel. I am looking for a bottom paint that is fast, and will remain intact on a boat stored on a trailer. I do not need antifouling properties so much, as I need a smooth fast paint to cover some epoxy repairs I have made on the bottom of the boat. I figure I will paint the entire bottom for uniformity. I understand exposed epoxy is very susceptible to UV damage. How many seasons should I get out of this paint if my boat is kept on a trailer? How much paint will I need? Also do you sell a product that will fill minor imperfections on large areas of the bottom?
