Duralux ZinKromate Performance Primer is a high quality synthetic primer for use in light to moderate marine exposures. It is lead and chromate free but offers the all of the performance and quality characteristics of zinc chromate without the health and application hazards. It has good chemical and corrosion resistance, dries fast, and allows single finish coat coverage when using a likecolored topcoat. ZinKromate Performance Primer adheres very well to steel, iron, aluminum or partially rusted galvanized surfaces.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
All surfaces must be free of moisture, grease, dirt, rust and other foreign matter. Use sandblasting, power and hand tool cleaning, or pressure washing to remove rust, loose mill scale, and loose paint. De-gloss and abrade the surface to ensure proper adhesion.

New Steel: On clean, rust free steel ZinKromate Performance Primer may be applied directly to the surface. New galvanized metal should be primed with DTM PRIMER 928X.

Rusted or Previously Painted Steel: Remove all rust, loose mill scale and dirt by scraping, power tool cleaning or sandblasting, Ideally, surface should be Commercial Blast Cleaned SSPC-SP-6. For severe environments, sandblast metal to Near-White Metal SSPCSP-10, before priming.

APPLICATION:
Apply ZinKromate Performance Primer to properly prepared surfaces as it comes from the can. Apply 1.0 to 2.0 mils dry film thickness over smooth steel, 2.0 to 3.0 mils over sandblasted steel.

Method of Application: Brush, roller or spray. For airless spray use a .015 to .023 tip, and equipment capable of maintaining 2,000 to 2,500 psi. For conventional spray use Graco 210-961 Series A or equivalent with .070 cap and .061 needle at 40-50 psi.

Thinning: This product requires no thinning. If thinning is desired, use PAINT THINNER #650 or VM&P NAPHTHA up to a half pint per gallon.

Clean Up: Immediately after use with mineral spirits or VM&P naphtha.

MAINTENANCE: Must be top-coated
