A one-component interior varnish based on urethane alkyd resins, gives a rich clear amber satin finish. For maximum durability, clarity and depth, apply two coats of Rubbed Effect Varnish over several coats of Epifanes Clear Gloss Varnish, Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss or Epifanes Polyurethane Clear Gloss. Rubbed Effect Varnish can also be applied directly to bare wood. Rubbed Effect Varnish can be applied to any interior softwood or hardwood and is highly recommended for cabin sole, doors and trim. Its hard satin finish has good scratch and scuff resistance and is impervious to most onboard chemicals. Sold by the 1000ml (1 Quart).

APPLICATION
Brush, roller, conventional air spray, HVLP, and airless.
Conventional Air: Thin as needed up to 15% with Epifanes Spray Thinner for Paint & Varnish. Spray viscosity 20 - 24 seconds Din Cup 4. 16 - 20 seconds Ford Cup 4. Nozzle 1.5 mm - 1.8 mm. Pressure 2 - 3 Bar.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Fill the bare wood to a smooth surface with Epifanes Clear Gloss Varnish, Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss or Epifanes Polyurethane Clear Gloss. Approx. 3 - 4 coats. These sealer coats provide maximum durability and U.V. protection (see leaflet on Clear Gloss Varnish, Wood Finish Gloss or Polyurethane Clear Gloss for application instructions). A build up of gloss also produces a finish with more depth and clarity. After build up, degrease with Epifanes Spray Thinner For Paint & Varnish or denatured alcohol and sand coat with 320 or 400 grit wet or dry abrasive paper. Brush application with a good quality, clean, natural bristle brush will give good results. Try an Epifanes brush for the ultimate varnishing experience. Foam brushes are convenient on smaller projects however, are not suitable for larger jobs. "Roll and tip" is a great method for large flat areas. 3" foam roller followed by a bristle brush is the best combination.
APPLICATION CONDITIONS
Temperature should be between 50°F and 85°F during application. Air humidity below 85%. Avoid varnishing in too much wind or sun. Any existing finish must be intact, degreased and sanded prior to recoating. Before applying each coat, degrease the surface with Epifanes Spray Thinner For Paint & Varnish or denatured alcohol. Use a tack cloth to remove dust particles prior to application. Always stir Epifanes Rubbed Effect Interior Varnish before using. Failure to do so may result in an uneven or blotchy finish. Some settling of the formulation may occur upon long standing.
