Wood Finish Gloss is the ultimate varnish alternative without sanding. It is based on phenolic-modified resins and tung oil with microscopic porosity properties. Specifically formulated for oily woods like teak and iroco, Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss has an ultra high gloss finish. Its color is clear amber. One of its outstanding characteristics is its ability to build up coats quickly without sanding. No sanding is required if re-coating within 72 hours. Wood Finish gloss has excellent flow, gloss and durability and offers great flexibility and water resistance in all weather conditions. APPLICATION
Brush, roller, conventional air spray, H.V.L.P., airless.
Conventional Air: Thin as needed up to 15% with Epifanes Spray Thinner for Paint & Varnish. Spray viscosity 18 - 22 seconds Din Cup 4, 14 - 18 seconds Ford Cup 4. Nozzle 1.5 mm. - 1.8 mm. Pressure 2 - 3 Bar.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Oily resinous tropical wood like teak, contains substances that may cause problems during and after finishing. i.e. slow drying or poor adhesion. These problems may be overcome by thorough and correct preparation and by the correct use of this product. Ensure that the wood is dry. Degrease the wood thoroughly with Epifanes Spray Thinner For Paint & Varnish or denatured alcohol. Do not use water. Sand the bare wood to a fresh surface with 60 - 80 grit dry abrasive paper with the grain of the wood. A block may be used to assist in fairing the surface. Finish sand with 100 - 120 grit dry abrasive paper. For oily woods, finish sand to 220 grit dry abrasive paper. Brush application with a good quality, clean, natural bristle brush will give good results.
APPLICATION CONDITIONS
Temperature should be between 50°F and 85°F during application. Air humidity below 85%. Avoid varnishing in too much wind or sun. A rapid loss of solvents will occur under these conditions and will decrease the flowing ability. Add thinner up to the specified percentage to compensate for the faster release of solvents. Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss is compatible with most other types of one-component alkyd or urethane based varnishes and over two-component varnishes. Any existing finish must be intact, degreased and sanded prior to recoating.
