In terms of physical properties and cost Sea Hawk Vinyl Ester Resin is a compromise between low-cost polyesters and epoxy resins. Its use is limited to the construction of high performance power boats, where vinyl ester?s increased bond strength has helped eliminate bonding problems with core materials.Vinyl ester resin is also used as a great water barrier when mixed properly with glass. Independent tests show vinyl ester resin applied properly is one of the best water barriers on the market.
Mixing Ratio: Mix 12 drops MeKP to 1 ounce of resin, 10/CC per quart, 40CC per gallon. Resin will begin to gel in approximately 30 minutes at 77°F.
Tinting: If color is desired, the resin can be tinted with a coloring agent. Add no more than 1 ounce of coloring per quart of resin.
Cleaning: Use acetone to clean brushes, tools and equipment before resin gels.
All Sea Hawk Resins should only be thinned with Styrene. *DO NOT use acetone for thinning resins.
