A lot of factors contribute to what paint is best for your boat:<\/p>\n
Are you painting the entire boat, or just the bottom? Is the boat in fresh water or salt water? Is your boat trailered?<\/p>\n
What is on the bottom of the boat now: bottom paint, topside paint\u00a0or gelcoat<\/a>? Once an antifouling\u00a0bottom paint <\/a>has been applied only antifouling paint can go over it (unless you\u00a0remove it<\/a>). Gelcoat<\/a> application is recommended over fiberglass, most resins and gelcoat<\/a>. It can have difficulty adhering to other surfaces.<\/p>\n For topside only the Duralux Marine Enamel <\/a>is an economical choice. It has several colors to choose from and features easy application.<\/p>\n Gelcoat<\/a> is usually what\u00a0is “original” to most boats; a\u00a0bass boat will have metal flake mixed in. We sell metal flake<\/a> that can be added to gelcoat<\/a> or paint but we don\u2019t sell any with it already mixed in.<\/p>\n
